Well as I finally sit in my easy chair and look back at the last - TopicsExpress

Well as I finally sit in my easy chair and look back at the last 18 days, Im marveled at so many things. Number 1, Gods Country is beautiful! Number 2, we made it! We had some bumps and bruises and heartache too. Some people were only set to do a couple of days while others were gonna do the ride no matter what. Some were forced to drop out due to circumstances beyond their control. Friday the 2nd biggest challenge of getting down DeGrey Hill was always on the back of my mind. All in all everyone did great. We only had one wagon go down with the help of a pickup and the team met them at the bottom. We had 38 Wagons and 47 Riders. The day was pretty uneventful until we got close to Farm Island and our final camp of the Wagon Train. We had emergency vehicles go by with lights and sirens on. The lights dont bother the animals but the sirens could cause some major problems. Luckily, we have some good Teamsters and Riders that handled it very well. We had a great supper of steak sandwiches. The Hayes 4 Corners Fire Department put the meal together sponsored by Bank West. We got to meet the governor of North Dakota and his wife. And also Governor Daugaard and Linda were with us as well. We had our awards handed out and the Governors each spoke. We also got to hear Miss Rodeo Melynda Rose Sletten speech. I was shocked and elated to receive a panoramic picture of our noon stop a few days ago. It was taken by Sissy KatesSchneiderman. She had it framed as well in a rustic wood frame with barbed wire and was signed by Those on the wagon train including both governors. I also received a Wagon Boss jacket from Willie Cowan. What a crew! Im so grateful to everyone! And then the final day I had to change the time of our departure to 9:30 and to the capital by 11:00. We had our parade through Pierre and to the capital building we went with 43 Wagons and 62 Riders. 266 miles total from Yankton to the capital and back to Farm Island. We had a scare at the capital building with a runaway. But with quick skill and response no one was injured. And we got the flags given to the governor and passed on to the North Dakota governor. And after all of the speeches we headed back to Farm Island to dismiss. What an amazing ride! Thank you just doesnt say enough! God Bless You All... til we meet again!
