Well done every body from our corner of the world :) And all the club helpers before and on the week end From Robbie Bowers at GCMTB Sunday’s big event at Hinze Dam conducted by GCMTB was an overwhelming success. Many were instrumental in the staging of this round of the Sunshine Series. A huge thanks to everyone involved. Committee members, club members and friends of the club teamed up to put on an event that had a unique event village and the fastest course on the race calendar. This added to making our race a stand-out-event and these are things competitors and spectators have all said that they want more of. This leaves the club with the DH Champs to run and then the final big GCMTB event of the year, the GCMTB Club Championships on December 8th. There will be a points system where the champion will have raced on the day and also volunteered for a key position in conducting an August, September, October and or November race (you may have someone volunteer in your place). This position includes that of Race Director (RD) for any of those months. Backing this person up will be rego, timing and marshals who will work with the RD in the lead up. That’s four races, possibly, to fill. If we get someone to run just one race then that would be the only one between now and December. Outside of racing two people are needed to help Bill on Saturday the 12/7/14 at Hinze Dam. You can expect to be working on the junior loop. Gates open/unlocked from 8am and you’ll finish around noon. Bring a bike and get in a short ride. In the weekends to come there will be a call for a large number of volunteers on “Bridge Day”. The rumour is that the bridge is being delivered on Thursday morning. When the trail is ready many will be needed to help get the structure in place. What a fun day that will be.
