Well done to all our students who competed in the Irish Freemasons’ Young Musician of the Year Competition last week: Fiona Gryson (harp), Emma Kenrick (flute), Paul Kiernan (trumpet) and Adam McDonagh (piano), and to their teachers. Adam won 4th prize overall for a stunning performance of Liszt and Bacewicz. Fiona was awarded the John Vallery Memorial Prize for the best strings performance. Great stuff! And congratulations to baritone Alex Otterburn, former Foundation Certificate student at the Conservatory and now at the Royal Academy of Music in London, who is a bursary winner in this year’s International Opera Awards.
