Well done to our MyStudio Crossfit Navan running team in the run - TopicsExpress

Well done to our MyStudio Crossfit Navan running team in the run for the cure 5k yesterday. 3rd place is pretty good for a group of crossfitters who train at MyStudio on average 4 times per week & only run occassionally. For anyone curious on what exactly CrossFit Navan is, please read on ... Like most other boxes (CrossFit gyms), our program is NOT fran, cindy, helen, jackie, hero or any other youtube crossfit workout you might come across. Its NOT running around in a circuit type format (repeating lots of movements/stations with questionable form). It is a Mobility, Strength & Conditioning training program. There is structure, fitness testing (not just stepping on a scales or taking ur bodyfat) & forward planning for continued progression. Theres a big difference between just exercising vs following a structured training plan. 80-90% of our coached crossfit class time falls into the Movement, Skill & Strength Development pot & is very slow moving (ie there are rest periods programmed & you work at a skill/strength level suitable to you). The other 10-20% of the training time is for conditioning (or met cons) where you elevate your heart rate, test your endurance & stamina across different energy systems & skills. You will continually be coached on positive motor patterns (good safe functional movements) NOTE: Training/exercising with free weights (bars, dumbells, kettlebells) doesnt guarantee that its safe & functional. A good trainer/coach will spot negative motor patterns & correct you (see link) We have a maximum client to coach ratio of 10-1 & when you start you will be doing a lot of foundation movements like the link below. Solid nutritional habits also helps build a good foundation and is a big part of our program. Especially for those very interested in bodyshape aswell as fitness goals. breakingmuscle/mobility-recovery/why-screening-and-corrective-exercise-should-be-foundation-every-exercise-program
