Well heres an update on my new job at Hampton Inn and Suites! My trainer at work thinks I should be all set to work alone. Hes gonna come in tmrw to supervise for a bit, but then is gonna leave to let me finish on my own. When I accepted this job I figured itd be so easy and simple because of having past hotel experience, especially having handled breakfast before. I can definitely say Hampton is completely different in handling their breakfast. For starters Night Audit does not set anything up besides coffee. The breakfast shift is responsible for everything. Cooking the hot foods, setting up, cleaning up, restocking/refilling, etc.. We also have sooo many options, I mean this is one of the best continental breakfasts I have ever seen. We have the traditional make your own waffles, cereals, coffee, tea, toast, danishs, bagels, English muffins, muffins, whole fruits and hard boiled eggs.. Then there is also freshly cut pineapple, cantaloupe, and mango. Breakfast croissants. Fresh hot oatmeal with 3 choices of toppings daily. And we also have a small daily breakfast hot menu that differs day to day such as.. Cheese omelets, turkey links, and seasoned potatoes or Western omletes, bacon, and fries or Scrambled eggs, sausage, and french toast sticks. (More options available, like I said they differ day to day.) My day starts at 5 am to get everything ready and Im usually home by 12-12:30. There is a breakfast person everyday, not me everyday but always someone there. And i can def say they are a busy place! I would say they are always at least 50% full, and surprisingly thats on the weekends! During the week they are usually 75% or more! Thats what happens when ur inna military town and working at a military contracted hotel though! Anyways.. Its a good job and Im happy with it for now but I will still def be keeping my eyes open of a Front Desk positing somewhere. Who knows maybe Ill do both :)
