Well if went to Dr. Rouchka today at the Newburg VA clinic. Contrary to popular belief most docs there are great and she is the best. I now weight 249.9 and gained 2 lbs. in the last nine months. My blood pressure was 159/99. Last week I purchased a Paleo diet cookbook. Paleo is basically meat, fish and poultry, vegetables, nuts and fruit. No bread ,pasta, potatoes,dairy although sweet potatoes are OK. I went grocery shopping last night an bought for next week to follow this lifestyle. No milk(ugh I love milk), no pop tarts(blueberry), potato chips, baloney, or ice cream! When I was discharged from the Air Force in 1974 I weighted 175 lbs. with a 32 inch waist, I was a lean, mean fighting machine. I always bragged that while I was stationed at Wright -Patterson AFB in Fairborn Ohio, not one Viet Cong got on the base! My boys always frown when I tell that story. Those were great days, I was married to my 1st wife Martha and had our 1st son Vincent Fears. We lived off base and there was a pool about 100 feet from our back door. Vince and Martha were brown as butternuts, swimming all day. Life was wonderful. With the death of my BettieWebb Fears last January, life has been a struggle. But I believe I turned a corner. The last 2 weeks Ive working around the house, painting and basically cleaning the old place up. I think with my new Paleo lifestyle I will have more energy and better health. After I have surgery next year to have my knees replaced I plan on tearing the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. The tearing down is the easy part, putting all back together is the tough part. The only part of having the knee surgery is since Bettie is no longer here, I have to go to an inpatient rehab for a week or two. God willing and dedication on my part will allow me too loose the weight. Fifty pound off in the next 12 to 18 months! I plan on going to Lima Ohio the 18th of October for a mini reunion of my high school class. It will be 47 years. Well everyone keep me in your prayers and see you guys in Lima on the 18th.
