Well in an otherwise lousy week heres a bright spot. My parents got their 2015 Clearwater calendar and my art is in the month of July...just by coincidence is my birth month! Ive showed it before but Ive attached a picture of the actual drawing. It celebrates the shad (and the only known art of the underside of the Sloop Clearwater) - a gauge of the Hudson Rivers health - which nearly went extinct in the 1960s and 1970s due to pollution and loss of shoreline habitat. They once were so numerous one could reach in and pull them out by hand. They are healthier than they have been in 100 years but still not out of the water (pun intended). Runoff, water quality and shoreline alterations still impact them heavily. If youd like one (the artists and photographers get no commission it is all donated art) they are $12 (clearwater.org/clearwater-store/gifts/) and all proceeds go to their activist mission to protect the Hudson River.
