Well, it has been nigh onto fifty years since the infamous Gulf of Tonkin incident that Lyndon Johnson used as an excuse to get fifty thousand of our soldiers killed in a conflict that he could have won out right in less than a year if he had allowed our military to fight the war the way wars should be fought. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Vietnam war, A north Vietnamese gun boat attacked a United States naval ship in the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam. Our ship responded and blew the other guy out of the water, done deal. Johnson used this as an excuse to start an all out war that resulted in the above mentioned casualty count as well as causing domestic unrest and riots in protest of the war. Since it has been fifty years, the freedom of information act should kick in and someone step foward to tell what really happened during this brief naval conflict that was horrendous enough to lead to all out war. In retrospect, it looks as if the poc from Texas was looking for an excuse to involve our young folks in this futile undertaking, an undertaking that no one really could understand, but like today, Americans were not thinking for themselves but like robots were allowing themselves to be led by a charismatic liar that had no concience and a selfish social agenda.
