Well it is a wild day today (as forecast) and that ends a fairly wild week. The worst of Hurricane Bertha missed us, but never have I seen or heard such water force. The wee river swelled and swelled, some embankments suffered, and a footbridge damaged. The pier remains intact but does need some maintenance - how many more storms will that iconic wee pier withstand without care and attention ?The roads are clear down to us again. We lost power on Wednesday(or was it Tuesday??) night but that actually ended up being rather lovely, candlelight cheese and wine platters by our wee roaring stove and yummy smoked fish platters. The weekend is looking blustery but the doors are open and the welcome warm!
