Well, its 2:15 am. I napped a bit earlier, but have been up watching Alexs slow progress. He originally left Safety checkpoint 12 hours ago for the 22 miles run into Nome. He had a female that went into heat and totally distracted the boys. Single tract minds! He returned to Safety, dropped the dog and rested for 8 hours. He took off at 11 with 2 other teams. They are about to finish. Alex is so determined he is truly the lead dog walking in front of his team. He has been at it for 3 hours at a pace of 2-3 mph. He is about to get to the top of Cape Nome. When he does I hope the dogs see the city lights and the downhill and give him a break!
