Well its that time again where two teams are left standing at the end of a long season in which The Monstars a preseason favorite to get to the championship is left with Envy, a team which took the league by storm this season. This Sunday at 10am Envy vs Monstars in the seventh title game in our young league. How they got here: Monstars and Jokers played in a hard fought game in which the Monstars running game ultimately proved to much on the Jokers defense, Scott Nordland was in handoff mode and when you have someone like Rabbit in the back field its not a bad idea. The first play of the game set the tone for the Monstars with Rabbit juking and spinning out in the back field making defenders miss left and right until finally breaking free for a long touchdown run, it would be the first of several big plays for him. The Jokers on the other hand werent ready to just hand them anything and fought back hard on both offense and defense, Mazzola to Bush was a common theme in the game with two touchdowns. With both teams fighting for any edge, a mistake was made, Rabbit jumped a route and picked Mazzola off for a touchdown, that turned the tide in the game and the Jokers couldnt dig themselves out again. All in all it was a great back and forth game in which the Jokers made a point to show the best team in the league that they can stay with them. Monstars 20 Jokers 18 MVP Rabbit 3 touchdowns- interception on Defense Envy vs Black Mambas Black Mambas just didnt have it this week. They just seemed off which is surprising because they were one of the most consistent teams to play this season. Envy came in full attack mode giving no quarter with the pass rush, they were constantly in the back field harassing the quarterback, meanwhile the defensive back field of Envy just sat in coverage and waited for the balls to be thrown, receiving 6 interceptions. On offense it was the Delaney and Scalise show, it proved to much to stop as the quarterback running back duo ran up and down the field controlling the time of possession and racking up huge yardage in eventual touchdowns. Bottom line Mambas, a good team had a bad game, but there a class act and competitive to the end, hopefully we see more of them in the future. On that Envy, a team that started out on the bottom literally has made strides of being the best team on the field at all times...they only have the Monstars in their way to claim that. Envy 38 Black Mambas 0 MVP Delany 4 interceptions and I lost count on the touchdowns. -MJS
