Well, its time for a weekly ramble/discussion from me. Seeing as over the past week, Ive been re-visiting the Original Trilogy, Ive decided to post about Star Wars. As a backstory, Ive been into this series for what will be 10 years this summer. While Ive really only gotten into the 6 movies and none of the various extra movies/tv shows/video games (besides lego star wars), I still remember the day my Dad rented the original for us to watch (kind of funny that as Im a senior in high school, he was a junior when the first one came out). But anyway, we watched it that afternoon, and I loved it so much that I watched it again that night. Over the years, Ive collected all six movies on DVD, and almost religiously watch through the series at least once a year. Earlier today, my dad and I were talking about them, and he was saying how The Empire Strikes Back is the best one in the original trilogy, and I agree with him. But I started to wonder what exactly about it makes it the best in that trilogy, seeing as neither Star Wars, or Return of the Jedi are really that bad. What Ive concluded is that, as the second part in the series, all of the main characters have pretty much been introduced, which saves the time it takes for that in movies. Also, the plot is already there, and it, as part of a trilogy will not have a definite ending in that particular movie. As Luke travels to Dagobah to learn from Yoda, the force is explained further into detail than Obi-Wan explained it in the original. It can be seen very well how becoming one with the force requires faith and sometimes putting yourself out of your comfort zone, and not leaning on your own understanding (cough cough, Proverbs 3:5-6) which is a great spiritual mentality to have. And as Vaders attempt to convert him to the dark side fails, even after telling him that he is Lukes father (oh, yeah, spoiler alert), it further develops the concept of faith. While Han and Leia have a romantic sideplot as well, it is only a minor element, and does not detract from their part of the plot where they, at first are returning to Tatooine for Han to pay his debt to Jabba the Hutt, but then become the bait for Luke to face Darth Vader. So, for my conclusion, Id like to ask a question to my fellow Star Wars fans: What is your favorite part/movie/or concept from Star Wars. If one comes to mind, leave it in the comments below. Ill start by answering 2: My favorite concept is the idea of the force and how it can relate to spirituality, and many aspects of life with its lessons of love, patience, and peace. My favorite part is in Attack of the Clones (you guys already know from seeing what movie its from, but here goes): Guy in Bar: *to Obi-Wan* You wana buy some death sticks? Obi-Wan: *nonchalantly mind tricking him* You dont want to sell me death sticks. Guy: I uhh, dont want to sell you death sticks... Obi-Wan: You want to go home and re-think your life. Guy: I uhh, wana go home and re-think my life...
