Well, my post seems to have generated a lot of heat and lot many questions. . Let me attempt to answer some charges made. Charge 1: It was a drama meant to garner sympathy votes - If that be the case, I suggest that both the mainstream parties should also get slapped. I guess, it is much better than butchering people to polarize voters. It also saves time, energy and thousands of Crores. Charge 2. The ire seems to be that I chose AAP. I am happy to vote for any other party other than BJP ( because of my experience with few). Any suggestions? I despise the choice of my way or the highway. BJP is expected to get 30% vote. Please dont ostracize the 70%. And I am one of them. Charge 3. Some said I am being emotional. Yes. i am, but the ridicule of AK after the brutal slap was only a trigger. The opinion must be read in its entirety, not in portions. Only the biased will pick up a few lines to make a case. Charge 4. Some said the ploy of AAP to garner sympathy votes has worked. That is so ridiculous. I have experienced life enough not to fall for the sympathy factor. As this is a matter of perception, i will be my own judge and not you. Charge 5. People compared it with Sharad Pawar slap and AKs response. Some acts are meant to make a political point. When ink was thrown or AK was punched, it wasnt harmful. Politicians are thick skinned and they will ride over it. I never raised a voice over the earlier attacks on AK. In this case, he was hurt. The attack was meant to hurt. This was no laughing matter. It is different in nature and the result. Charge 6. I mean it. I will not vote for AAP to be in government. At this point, They are not fit to govern. What we need is a strong opposition. And AAP is good to be in that place. For those who want to know my opinion about AAP, please google - I CANT DEFEND YOU ANYMORE - A LETTER TO KEJRIWAL. Charge 7. Some of you pointed at AAPs failure in governance, campaign etc. Dont get there. Modi or BJP will not have a place to hide if we start debating and getting into details. It is best that BJP fans dont talk of the past. - I am happy to debate Modis past 15 years with AKs past 15 years - BJPs current campaign with AAPs campaign. - BJPs list of candidates with AAPs list of candidates. In my entire argument, I promise to use only statements made by BJP leaders. Any takers? Charge 8. AAP is the B team of Congress - Interesting. In all likeliness, AAP will get less than 4% vote and about 10 seats. BJP will get about 30%. The other parties are likely to get about 175 seats. When you did not criticise 66% vote (incl. congress) and 300 seats going to others, how does 4% and 10 seats become such a big issue? Defies all logic. Are you worried about your moral bankruptcy being exposed? Charge 9. Some of you talked about the anger on the streets for failing to govern. What explains the attacks outside of Delhi? He never governed there. No one reposed their trust in AAP. And if attacks were a barometer to peoples anger, than UPA must be re-elected. There seems to be no anger against them. Shall we vote them in? Charge 10. Some one commented It seems Modi is the No.1 target of terrorists and AK the No.1 target of Aam Aadmi. In which case, I am happy to be branded a terrorist. I am certain that The Goon Shah will have me killed at the first opportunity. I cant imagine the compulsions of Modi that encourages such retards in his party. Like the 70% people who will not vote BJP, I may be proved wrong in future. That would be the best thing to happen to India, the success of a government. But at least I am not arrogant to say that I am right and others are wrong. Some of my closest friends, people I look up to and respect deeply support BJP. I will do anything for them. But vote is a personal opinion. I may be wasting my vote. But that is besides the point. I will vote for the right candidate than the winning candidate, the right party than a party likely to form government. I am absolutely certain that my vote, that adds to the 4% is also as important as your vote that adds to the 30%. A strong opposition is as important as a stable government. That is democracy for the uninitiated. And on the 16th of May, drop by for a good south indian filter coffee, whoever wins. Democracy would have won, anyways.
