Well, no. Im sorry, but this bugs the bejeezus out of me. A *veteran* is, by definition, a FORMER member of the armed forces. NOT on active duty. NOT currently enlisted. NOT in the National Guard. Separated from service. Retired. NO LONGER AN ACTIVE PART OF THE ARMED FORCES. My John is a veteran. My nephew, Christopher, who is regular Air Force, is NOT a veteran. Js second cousins husband, a Weekend Warrior of the Air National Guard flavor, is NOT a veteran. They will BECOME veterans when they separate from service, but NOT until then. It is disrespectful to those men and women who have left active duty to lump everyone still on active duty in with them for ... Im not sure why, other than ignorance. Both of my grandfathers, my dad and both of my uncles (on his side), and my cousin Will all served their country and were honorably discharged...as far as I know. Veterans Day is for THEM. For active duty personnel, there is Armed Forces Day. Please help to spread information thats apparently being ignored by people who seriously should know better. Thank you, on behalf of veterans of our United States! (off my soap box now...)
