Well, not the way I would choose to spend the morning. I just got home at 1PM after trying to get to work this morning...I did not make it there. I left at 8:15AM and only traveled a total of 14 miles round trip. At 8, I checked the cars....dry, no ice on them, and none coming out of the sky. 15 minutes later there was already an 1/8 of an inch and it was coming down hard. Made it up all the big hills on very scary roads with only a few glitches, then traffic started backing up at Vine as cars started sliding off the roads while travelling on the flat. I almost went down a 30 ft embankment, saved only by a tiny lip of frozen snow at the roads edge. Everyone was being very careful, but it mattered not a bit. I had a panic attack and a reality check, bagged it, and called in to work. I spent the morning in the Three Bears parking lot watching traffic back up headed into town, and headed out of town too. Road was blocked in both directions and impassible. 20 cars were in the ditch on Vine alone, including a school bus. Met some folks in 3 Bears, had a nice chat with a few of them. Enjoyed some free coffee, then bought a box of Udis gluten free brownie bites, a dog bed and blanket, ate all the brownies and slept in the back of the 4 Runner with Raven snuggling up listening to the radio reports on road closures. Tried to go home after 2 hours, and nobody was moving through the light at Vine for over 1/2 hr....I went back to 3 Bears to wait some more. I waited for 2 sand trucks to go by before we tried it, and were glad we did. The heavy trucks and buses with chains are breaking it up at last, and the road home was heaven by comparison to what it was this morning. Note to self....listen to inner voice next time, and do not even leave home!
