This email just in: Team, Wanted to update you on activities here in TN as we begin our legislative session. I had an interesting conversation with RJR’s lobbyist, Nathan Poss, this afternoon. Nathan informed me that RJR will bring a substantive bill to address a variety of issues. He mentioned defining vaping, regulation of wholesale nicotine purchasing and mixing by retail shops, the potential restriction on the offering of flavors, and various other restrictions with respect to youth and vaping on school grounds. He said that RJR would not pursue any changes to the tax structure or try to prohibit open vaping systems. He tried to downplay the nature of the changes, but I suspect there is more to the bill than he disclosed. He says he doesn’t have a draft to share at this point but will do so in an effort to try to “iron out” any issues. Erica Bell Vick Senior Public Policy Advisor
