Well, since our last post we have had poor internet but wonderful experiences on winding roads to remote villages and towns. It continues to be very cold – using thermal gear, gloves and scarfs as there is still snow on the ground! Getting up before dawn to go into monasteries before the sun rises is a bit of a challenge. A few days ago we drove from Bumthang to Gangley and arrived in Punakha, for three days for a big festival. So far the costumes, dances and rituals have been stunning and viewed with a sense of awe. Hotels have ranged from quite old-fashioned to OK – as all we want is a good bed and hot showers! Since we started this message, we have had no wi-fi until now - as we are in Paro, staying at a former king’s ancient palace!
