Well, that was pretty freaking amazing. As are services like Freds Van. Please check them out, they run a service 5 days a week, volunteer run, feeding the poor and homeless all over Adelaide. We rocked up and there was already a line formed. The van rolled in, and within five minutes they had a full set up with soup, sausages, curry, bread, tea and coffee ready to dish out. Talking to the manager John, some of the folk there had not had a meal since Sunday, which was the last time they were there. We handed out our packs, about 60-70, and received so many heartfelt thanks. Some refused packs, saying there were people more needy than them. We had left over toothpaste and brushes and these were swooped up very quickly. The bottles of water were also a huge hit. The guys there were happy to chat and laugh with us, cracking jokes and generally being really welcoming. A massive Thankyou to those of you who donated, and a special thanks to those who helped hand stuff out, I cant tag you all, but you know who you are. I think we all had our eyes opened a bit, and I know I for one felt guilty for feeling hungry because I had not yet had dinner, the happiness on some of the faces just at being able to pick through a bag of donated bread. Yes, it wasnt a Cosplay event. But it was a very human one. And I am so happy it happened. We did get asked when we could drop by again....
