Well thats that then. As previously discussed at length, I recieved an official invite to audition for X-Factor a few days back. Two things have made me decide against even spending another second of my life considering taking an entire day to traipse up to London (£20 trainfare, unrecoupable) to sing for some spanner producer in the vain hope that they might damn me with their faint praise, if I should be so lucky: hearing Alexs new album come together over the past week - an album of some of the most heatfelt, honest, beautiful, damn AMAZING music Ive ever had the pleasure to be involved in - and the fact that I had previously arranged a rehearsal for my new group, and doing the audition would mean cancelling that, and I dont cancel rehearsals with my new group for ANYONE. Call me a cunt, but I couldnt square those things. I also realised that I really dont need to dumb down what I do. The WHOLE POINT in ESPs last three records has been about pushing the envelope of what can be considered pop as far as harmonically possible, and if anything, I need to push even further. The world doesnt need another priapic pop cock, it needs another GG Allin. In the words of the mighty BH: I WANT MY ROCK STARS DEAD.
