Well the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee says he is very pleased by the Court of Appeal’s finding, released today, that the residential red zoning of the most damaged parts of greater Christchurch was lawful. What this release also says in a very around about way is that the 50% offer of land has been ruled unlawful and that CERA must look at changing the process in accordance with the legal requirements to give fair payment for that land. The outcome will now mean that Port Hills zones in red or green can progress to make way for final decisions.
