Well the New Year is almost upon us. It is once again time to reflect on the past year and appreciate all that we have done. Lets take a moment and reflect on this past year. What have we as a people done to slow our dependencies on petroleum? What did we do to stop or even slow the spread of all forms of cancer that plagues our nation? What did we do this past year to clean up our water supplies or ensure our food supplies are healthy and will be there in coming years? So many questions still need to be addressed don’t they. Time to stop worrying about things we cannot change they are part of the past and they can stay there just fine by themselves so let them all go…time to move on. There is a bright shiny New Year ahead of us just waiting for us to make it into something special. I believe most would agree that we have much work still ahead of us if we as a people are to continue progressing our civilization. What is it you think we should progress this next year and what should we leave behind as lessons learned? Lets plan for a year that ends with us saying…that was fun whats next? Maine Green Cross has spent the past few years trying to find answers to many of the questions that plague us. Questions such as what can we do to plan ahead for the inevitable decline in our oil supplies? I know I know…its not here yet why worry about it now? Let’s just wait till the bottom is reached and prices really soar. Or crazier yet lets hope that the rich will take care of us all. I personally believe this is a bit unconscionable to think that we could fix something as dire and needed as oh say our food supply, our transportation, our heating and energy needs. The harms we are doing to our environment and to our selves. All of these vital areas will need our attention my friends. Why wait? Lets talk about it now…after all talk is cheap and we all have ideas thoughts and opinions. I have found thru my research that alternatives do exist today. Technology can help us very much in ridding ourselves of the petroleum monkey that’s ever present on our backs. In my studies I am finding answers…slowly at first but this effort will gain momentum, it has no choice but to succeed, the alternatives are unimaginable aren’t they? Wont you join me and my friends over this coming year and help us all to contribute in a cooperative manner to find out as many of the important answers that we may so that by the end of 2015 we as a group of people can look back and say…wow look at what we did. I’m going to continue to do this anyway so your all welcome to come along for the ride if you wish. I plan to discuss our minds and how they are so important to us all and too our futures. I plan to discuss the concerns of not trying to change those things in our lives that are so important and yet we do so little to fix. I will make mistakes believe it, I will stumble and fall as I have many times before and my friends will pick me up as they have so many times before. But in the end we will have learned. Failures and successes are all relevant and all lead to progress. So lets make this Maine Green Cross’s 10 year anniversary the beginning of the most unusual year of our lives. Lets end 2015 with a bang that’s so big as to awaken the spirits in us all. The awakening is in fact upon us time to roll up our sleeves and go to work my friends.
