Well, the Truth of the matter is that we had a great holiday - TopicsExpress

Well, the Truth of the matter is that we had a great holiday weekend. And the Consequences are that were pretty pooped! Although we never got to see the Elephant, we were perched on the precipice of a beaut of a Butte. By the way, we may be way out west, but the wind we had was called gale-force, not Mariah. (Speaking of, do you know anyone who needs a well-ventilated used tent that has a significant lean to the right? Unless, of course you look at it from the rear in which case it leans to the left.) We got to see a road runner, some sort of quail, jack rabbits, a juvenile horny toad, and a whole slew of checkered lizards - one of which most definitely doesnt have any issues with constipation. We learned that sometimes gravel encrusted dirt can be as hard as concrete, and is impervious to every style of tent stake known to man. We have a much greater appreciation for the challenges our pioneer ancestors overcame, and have realized that they must have been pretty darn clever as they improvised their way across the country. We discovered that if you know what youre doing, you can create an elaborate tie down system that will not only prevent your tent from becoming airborne, but can also act as a home, er, tent-invader determent or can increase your trip to the latrine time by 35%. (Ever hear of being clotheslined?) We also know that when plans become adventures, the folks youre with make all the difference in creating great memories instead of miserable experiences. Thanks, Doug and Kris, for the wonderful food, the superb companionship, and the much needed knot tying skills..
