Well the dust has settled from last night and yes the boys went down 5-3 to Windsor. 2 long balls were the difference between the 2 sides who put on a great display of baseball in front of a large appreciative crowd. Padres had their opportunity in the 8th when they loaded the bases with 1 out but could not overcome some quality opposition pitching and came up just short. The relief in the opposition team after the last out showed how competitive this team is with their never say die attitude. Whilst the side lost on the score board, Phil and the boys proved to be a real class act and lived up to the adage of you lose with dignity. And all class they were. Whilst hurting at the loss, the look in many of the player’s eyes tells me that there is still plenty to be written about this team in the seasons ahead. To those retiring players in Todd, Macca and Danny you did not only your club proud, but yourselves as well and congratulations on great careers. Whilst they may be finished on the A Grade diamond I think they will not be too far from the ball park. The club showed its other real strength, and that is of our members. The stands were packed with Padres supporters, old and young alike. Many of the old candy stripe playing tops were in attendance and every person in attendance is proud of the achievement of this team. Thank you guys for showing us how to play the game and well done your club is proud of you!!
