Well, the forget about early release day hit our house today. Mama had to be reminded to go get Camden today because we forgot that now every Wednesday the students are released an hour early. I eliminated the early release day when I was elected as Superintendent, so last school year our kids were on a regular schedule. Going back to early release Wednesdays this year was not a good idea and was sold as saving professional development money, yet teachers were out for workshops the past two days for the entire day and substitutes were hired. This took them away from their students two whole days as well. I made it so that most professional development was done during the summer break so as not to interrupt the instruction for the kids and cause great inconveniences to parents who had to adjust their work schedules every Wednesday to pick up their children an hour or arrange for child care. Down the drain that went....... Oh, and Im wondering who is going to be the PBS consultant that was hired at $65 an hour, which is about $25 an hour more than the Superintendent makes........hmmm...... Also, Ive had many people ask me who Im supporting for Superintendent of Schools. Ill be more than happy to discuss that with you privately, since I dont wish to make discuss my viewpoints and preferences on this venue. I do have some pretty strong feelings about this race, as you can imagine.
