Well, the ice is finally melting. Theres only about a fourth of my driveway still covered. Water is running off the roof steadily. I discovered a drawback to driving a rear wheel drive car with an automatic transmission. One of the bridges on the way to work was covered in ice when I crossed it. Even though my engine was just IDLING, my rear wheels started spinning as soon as I hit the ice. The rear end started coming around, and I wound up crossing the bridge sideways. I had the front pointed in the right direction, so I only got about 45 degrees from the direction of travel. A front wheel drive would have spun, but not gotten sideways. We lost a few screen panels out of our swimming pool enclosure, due to the weight of the sleet. My cat, who usually naps on top of the enclosure, is on the ridge inspecting where his bed is missing.
