Well, the verdict on Nora seems to have been a viral respiratory - TopicsExpress

Well, the verdict on Nora seems to have been a viral respiratory infection with an additional strep throat infection. Dawn took her by Dr. Creekmores again this today to get him to have a look after her fever hit 105 early this morning. He took some blood and did a strep test to confirm everything. He thought within a couple of days she would be over most of it and she has been less lethargic this afternoon. Hopefully, everything is on the right track. On a side note, it amazes me to think that it was around 1943 before penicillin was mass produced. Tylenol in 1956 and ibuprofen in 1969. I suppose if you were lucky enough to get to actually go to a doctor in the early 1900s, especially in our area of the country, you might could get an aspirin which was cutting edge medicine. It boggles the mind to think about the type of sleepless nights people had back then with children and unfortunately to think of the many children who just did not make it in spite of prayers and home remedies. We sit up and worry enough, but the parents of my grandparents and especially great-grandparents times must have gone through some especially long nights. Our modern world is full of some negative things, but sometimes I think we fail to see how truly fortunate we are to live with many of the advances we do today. I hope everyone has a great night!
