Well, this has been an interesting weekend! Getting ready to launch the ASA template web sites, got the go-ahead from developers, figured Id best run a quick test myself, so forwarded a domain to a cloned web site, and BOOM! (Actually, it was literally a BOOM!, as a transformer blew somewhere in this grotto of high-rises right while I was working on it) BOOM!, the parent site that was cloned to a template that was cloned to make the site I was forwarding to - the parent site went dead. My main web site. Dead. 500 Internal Server Error. No point calling my hosting company, as their default position is delete all plugins, revert to wordpress basic theme and then call us back. Able to log in to the site and view all but the main page. Somehow, something had decided to add the in front of the site when typing it in the browser. Hmmmm. A phonecall to the tech guy in England, and he was stumped. 9 hours of research, trying different things. In desperation, tried something that had been met with mixed results by users of Responsive theme - change Permalinks setting from custom to default. Absolutely no logical reason for it to work, but it did. Gotta love technology, which I do. So, another few hours of testing to make absolutely certain, and then well be off to the races, ready to launch the template sites!
