Well... this is it. .. the final game of the season. It has been a wild ride. We have laughed, smiled, yelled, frowned, cheered, clapped, fought, made up, froze, melted, been blown away, lost, won and seen history being made. I know not making it to the post season was a disappointing end... but make no mistake Tribe Nation... it was not a disappointing ride. I have enjoyed getting to know each of you. I have enjoyed watching the games with you. And believe me when I say that it has been my pleasure to write the keys of the game each day the Tribe played. So... one last time in 2014... lets see.... The keys to todays game- 1.) Score some runs! Seriously.... score some runs. You all know my two favorite words in baseball: Small Ball! Give us something to cheer for. 2.) Play clean D! You know after the season we had (heck- after last nights game) I would have to make this a key. Lets hope that whatever plague the indians defense have fallen ill to that makes them commit so many errors this season is cured during the off season. You can not give the other team unearned runs, especially when your offense is struggling. Lets end the season off on a high defensive note today... and make no errors. 3.) For the love of the game. At the end of the day... when all is said and done... it is for the love of this game that draws us back each game day. So today... enjoy the game. The players need remember the love that captured them so many years ago when they first picked up a ball and bat. Play for pride. Play for fun. Play for the fans. Play because you wont have the opportunity to play again for a while. The game. The hot dogs. The 7th inning stretch. The peanuts. The crowds. The first pitch, to the last. We root, root, root for the home team. Because if they dont win its a shame. Because its One. Two. Three strikes your out.
