Well, this is the week! Wednesday I am getting 2 units of platelets transfused so that there is no problem with the doctor putting in a tri-lumen IV line on Thursday. After the line is placed I will be admitted directly to the hospital, into the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, 3rd floor at Florida Hospital Orlando. Then chemotherapy and radiation is started to obliterate whats left of my own bone marrow to prepare my body to receive the donated marrow from my son, Brian, on the 31st. Actually, getting the donated marrow is the easiest part. Its given just like getting blood, through the IV line. Then I continue to get some chemotherapy to suppress the new marrows immune reaction to being in my body. It still thinks its in Brian and considers the rest of my body to be an invader and tries to get rid of it. I welcome healthy visitors. I can have 2 visitors at a time. If you are ill or have been closely around someone who has a contagious condition, please dont come. It will be some time before my body can protect itself from even the most simple germs. Of course you can always call me either through the hospital or on my cell phone. Just keep-a-prayin. God is in control, Hes holding my hand!
