Well, this is why Craig jokes and calls me Joyce Meyer and says I should be the pastor of a church and name it What Will She Say Next!. Josh and I decided to wake up early to go walk the boardwalk. After 2 miles of walking one way, we get there just to find out we have to pay $1 each to walk the boardwalk. Well, of course I had nothing on me. I looked at that lady and gave my pregnant story to no avail. I said Mam, are you serious you want me to walk another 4 miles extra just to give you $2. She said yes. So, for the first time in my life I was living like a beggar physically. The first man I asked $2 from said, Ive only got one.....and he didnt give it. The second guy I asked said no with a very rude look. Then, I went up to a young man, who Im sure had less money than either of the retired 2 and told him the situation and he offered me $2 without me even asking and Josh and I got to walk the boardwalk and we saw a bunch of sharks. Soooooooo, I decided (being led by the Lord I believe) to go back to that second man and his wife. I asked him, Sir, are you all Christians? If he wasnt, I would have given him the gospel. He responded yes. So I said, Sir, all I needed was $2 so I wouldnt have to walk 4 miles to come back here and you didnt give it to me. The Lord is not very pleased with you right now. His response was Well I guess Ill just have to go to hell for that then. His wifes response was Maybe thats just YOUR Lord. Talk about Saphira defending Ananias! And I said it VERY graciously....I was smiling and I even put my hand on his shoulder. But it doesnt matter. Do we REALLY believe the bible when it says things like You cannot serve God and money? Or do we try be the exception to this biblical rule as if we know more than God? How about this....do we REALLY believe the bible when it says Give to EVERYONE who begs of you. Or do we add to the Word by trying to figure out if they are going to do the right thing with their money and examine all their motives first and so on and so on.... This is the first time in my life I have had to beg....I pray the only person I ever beg from is Jesus Christ.....and God put me in a position always to be the giver rather than the beggar. I feel like I experienced a small glimpse of the Good Samaritan story today.
