Well this takes the Cake.......... I have just been informed that the council intends to try to legally land us with a bill for repairs to the roof after they have messed about for three years wasting thousands of pounds and causing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage. The meeting was secretive, held behind closed doors and the decision taken by councillors that are part of a political party that are dictated to by their leader. Stoke on Trent is not democratic, it is anything but. I will be looking forward to seeing them in court at some point sincerely hoping that the court is also out of the area. Basically, after nearly three years of rotting the roof they want us to put it right. If they had done the job correct in the first place the public purse would not have seen over a hundred thousand pounds spent on scaffolding or hundreds of thousands of pounds of internal damage caused to a listed building. Indeed, the roof timbers were fine except for a coupld of gutter boards under the lead which we offered to replace. Now the Princes is destroyed they have the cheek to suggest we are responsible for it. I have worked around the country with councils and I can honestly say I have never been part of or witnessed any stupidness such as this. The officers are covering up their mistakes and using lies and deceit to save their own skins working closely with a labour party cabinet to inflict harm and damage to us. Kier themselves are not clear of any guilt either for their unprofessional and down right stupid handling of the roof repairs. I came to Burslem with a willing heart and a bagful of desire to help regeneration of the town. Since signing the lease the council officers and the council as a whole have done very little to help. In a nutshell........They want back what was a derelict building without paying us for our investment costs and my time. Stoke on Trent City Council in its present form is not honorable and the sooner the people of this City vote them out the better the place will be. I have stated on many occasions that the power of the pen is mightier than the sword......but it depends who controls the papers. Let us watch and see if reporting is fairly balanced as the connection between the press and particularly the local newspapers is somewhat too close. Well see..........
