Well today started off as one of those days. You know the kind. The kind where everything that could go wrong did and then some and it seems as though the universe is telling you go back to bed. Crawl back into the warmth of those freshly laundered sheets close your eyes and drift back to sleep. Take the day off, its just not going to be your day. Not that Ive ever been able to do that but the day seemed to be conspiring against me. Sigh. Well, the day ended with me on such a high that the entire day just turned around and was worth all the heartache to get through it. I got a call tonight that just completely made my day. Im making some changes in the herd and culling some stock to make room for the 6 babies I kept this year. Ive found a perfect home for a couple of my girls and was on the phone tonight mentoring the future owners. Me! Little ol me! I was MENTORING! I am not sure when I went from needing a mentor to being a mentor but it has happened and Im on cloud nine! Dont get me wrong, I do not mean this to come across as boastful, I just feel that with everything Ive learned (often the hard way), read, experienced and questioned that Ive got enough knowledge to use it to help another newbie. I also want to tell you that even with all the knowledge I have its a drop in the bucket and Im still learning, I by no means know it all but to have been able to confidently answer their questions with experience and education in such a way as to make them confident makes me feel like Ive done my job. I know that these girls will be loved as much as they are here and well taken care of. I will miss them but I know it is time to make some changes in the herd. And fortunately Ive got about a month to get used to the idea, ;-)
