Well we have been home for a few days and it is a mix of emotions. It was somewhat of a scramble initially because quite frankly I was in denial that we would actually make it home. The first few days were really nice. It has been so wonderful being under one roof and all was perfect ...Then reality set in. On day three-bam-I got a breast infection. It made me realize how lofty this whole endeavor (pumping , nursing, feeding, schooling, etc) is and how I promised myself no heroics. I decided that it is time to stop pumping. Silver lining: I get to eat dairy. There have been a lot of truly magical moments (linked below) and truly scary moments (that I would not care to document and rather forget)--No new developments, just the same challenges that we are aware if. However, I will just lay it out there so you understand our journey and what our day to day is like. Evangeline has a tendency to reflux which causes her to choke, stop breathing and experience heart dips. Hence the apnea monitor. I also have to be super careful when I feed her. It is a carefully orchestrated dance that Evangeline and I perform 8 times a day. If I dont tip it just so, linger too long or too slow, she could choke and I have to stimulate her back. They refer to teaching her how to eat as pacing but honestly it feels like a marathon. Then there is the medicine. Oh the dreaded medicine. Needless to say, I have been losing lots of hair. Noah and I may be twins soon. Oh but then there are those precious moments that make it worth it. I think the thing that I treasure the most is being an up front witness to the power of Evangelines spirit. She is pretty incredible. I admire her strength and sweetness. She is my hero.
