Well, yesterday was very eventful. First of all, before going to work, I did some grocery shopping. I got to work early and tried to call Bill to let him know what I got at the store as it wasnt exactly what he had wanted. There was no answer when I called so I thought he must be talking to someone on the phone as he doesnt like to switch over to see who is calling unless hes expecting a call from a Dr. He thinks its rude. So I tried again in a little while and was surprised there was still no answer NOR an answering pick up. Strange I thought. So I tried again and again and again finally realizing our phone must be out of order. When I left for work the weather forecast said freezing rain and blowing wind AFTER midnight so I thought I was safe. As the evening went on, more and more people kept coming in saying how bad the roads were getting with high winds and lots of drifts. I checked online and saw there was now a winter weather advisory UNTIL midnight! Great!! I told my charge nurse that Bill had no phone and I wanted to get going sooner rather than later before the roads got any worse so she let me leave around 8:15 or so. I just drove slow and was doing OK until I got to our dreaded gravel road where there were lots of drifts there were getting bigger and bigger as I drove on. A little less than a mile from home I got stuck. Luckily I had our one and only track phone with me so I called our neighbors (the Macks) to see if they could tow me home. They came with their big truck (4x4). They drove past me to go to the other neighbors driveway to turn around so they could get in front of me to hook up a chain. With their big truck, THEY got stuck in the driveway! They called their two sons to come on their snowmobile to help push THEM out! I hope my car is OK as it got jerked around a LOT. After finally making it home, we had a visitor. When they had to turn around in the neighbors driveway, the neighbors big white Bermese mountain dog had followed us home. I then called that neighbor who said hed probably come back home. About an hour later I was going to bed and when I went into the bathroom, I saw out the window that dog was dog was sitting on top of a snow bank. I called the neighbor back who said hed be right over. THEN the dog vanished! I called this morning to find out the dog made it home just ahead of him and was sitting in the driveway to great him. Fun times in the country, huh? Ugh!
