Well yesterday we had no WiFi at our hotel but the day was mostly a transport day to get us into southern Japan. We gained six more people on to our tour yesterday morning which meant we set off with 22 people. This is the most we have had so far. On route we visited Himeji Castle and a historic rice storage house district on a canal, it is Kurashiki. We went to a Japanese pancake place in Hiroshima, before arriving at our hotel about 8.15pm. Everyone was very tired after nearly a twelve hour day of travel. Woke in Hiroshima this morning, breakfast at the hotel watching ships come in to port, then head off at 8.30am. First stop for the day was the A-Bomb Dome, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Peace Memorial Museum. This the most moving stop we have made. The only question to ask is why did this have to happen. It brought back some memories for Bill of his 2 years in Japan in 1947/48. Then on a ferry out to Miyajima island. Here we visited one of the most famous Shinto shine, Istukushima. The floating shrine. The tide was out so we got to see the whole structure just so impressive. While at the shrine we were privileged to see a Japanese Shinto wedding the bride would have been very hot but looked beautiful. It was then onto lunch at a sushi train restaurant, absolute heaven for me. For the three of us just $19. After lunch to the Kintai Bridge, it is a five arch bridge first built in 1673. It would be beautiful in spring will cherry blossom. The pathways along the river bank leading to the bridge are lined with cherry trees. It is then on the bus for a 3 hour drive to our hotel in Fukuoka. Our expected time of arrival is about 7 pm and we have dinner at our own expense tonight.
