Wellpro Prodsports Qld 2014 Championship Round 4 August 23/24 Round 4 of the Wellro Prodsports championship follows the supersized 38 car field that was our exhibition event at the recent V8 supercars race. Geoff Famous Fane who stormed to victory behind the long bonnet of a V10 Dodge Viper is returning to give the other fast cars a shake up. Famous was seen signing autographs at the V8 round and some motorsports insiders are tipping him as the future poster boy of sports car racing. There will be no shortage of exotic metal on display with Graham Lustys Mosler again appearing in the invited class, hot on the heels of the Viper. The pace of cars in Williams Race Services 2b category is quite frenetic at this round with an incredible array of interesting machines. The Goliath 1800kg GTR of Roger Hill, at one end of the spectrum we be harrased by diminutive blue Lotus of John Prefontaine, and featherweight Westfield of Antonieff. A trio of Porsche 911s driven by Prodsports regulars Wayne Udy, Stan Adler and newcomer Jeremy Norris add to the German contingent while the mighty black Corvette of Greg Quince will be pushing hard on the fast QR circuit. Further back in the Pothole People 2f the championship its an all Mazda Mx-5 affair. Leader Jeff Hume will be looking to cement his position on top of the tables and get his mitts on another round victory. The return of Michael Sukahars white NC will be watched with interest and the Gavin Clay, Tony Ross battle will rage once again. Of particular note will be the inclusion of race debutant Sonke Hatje who has been selected from the mx-5 club to make the leap from sprinting to racing. No doubt many of his fellow club members will watch his progress closely and we welcome him aboard.
