Went to Taipan at The Oberoi after eons. I have always loved the Taipan but eat Chinese less and less because of the MSG and soya which has so much salt. So I didnt eat. I had just a bit of egg fried rice, which when done right is, in my opinion, one of the finest dishes ever. It has such a simple, clean taste. My friend Pia had the dum sum lunch. She started with the chicken corn soup which she said was excellent. An old world dish that makes everyone go back to childhood. Then came on the dim sums. Pia didnt touch the fried stuff. Sensible gal. The steamed har gao, sui mail etc were all superb. The duck, i think was a bit disappointing. Taipan is a top of the line place that is less popular now a days but I love it. A caveat. There are traces of MSG though could ask them not to use it in the a la carte menu.
