Went to pick up a package today from the office and saw a little girl (LG) with her dad holding a glittery blue toy... Me: Thats a pretty cool toy. Is it a manta ray? LG: No, its a sting ray. Me: Oh, okay. Dad: (in his Ive told you this before and now you should repeat the right answer parent voice) Whats the difference between a sting ray and a manta ray? LG: One will sting you and one wont. Dad: (laughs) Me: Is that true? Dad: I have no idea. I just wanted to know what the difference was. Later, as we are all leaving the building with our packages... LG: (mumbles something I cant hear as she carries a box out the door) Dad: Parcel?! Where did you learn a word like that? LG: (in the most direct matter-of-fact voice I have ever heard) Harry Potter. Moral of the story: This little girl is the greatest person alive and I want to babysit her so we can have HP marathons all day and she can teach me maybe-not-so-true facts about sea critters.
