Went to see Mother, Vivian Mason yesterday. Tomorrow, June 6 - TopicsExpress

Went to see Mother, Vivian Mason yesterday. Tomorrow, June 6 would be her 82nd wedding anniversary. I asked her about the wedding. She had told me before that Aunt Madge Garrison was her Maid of Honor. I asked about her dress and she said that Grandmother Borum had chosen it,or had it made. Grandmother had a brand new wide brimmed pale blue hat with pink lining underneath, and she had a dress made to match it for Mother. Mother said it was the fanciest dress she had ever had. She said that it was the hottest day in the history of Mississippi (and the have some hot damn days) After the reception held at the Watkins home in Aberdeen, she and Daddy drove to Laurel, Mississippi for their wedding night. She said that all of their friends followed them as far as Columbus, Miss. about 28 miles, throwing rice on them. When they got to the hotel in Laurel, a large bellman took their luggage to their room and when he set it up to open in rice fell out all over the floor. She said she was so embarrassed because of the way he grinned at her. She said that it was so hot and they had perspired so much on the drive that when she removed her bra it was full of cooked rice. Poor Daddy no one, not Grandmother Borum or any of her older sisters, had the talkwith her, so he spent his wedding night trying to explain it all to Mama. She said it was a week before she believed him and they tried it. She did like it though. Happy Anniversary Mama and Daddy. She misses you so much.
