Went to see The Alex Hutchings Band and guitar workshop. A whole audience of guitar freaks with me being the LEAST geeky [also the oldest by 30 years, but thats normal these days]. The music and musicianship was phenomenal, even the saxophonist gave me the same buzz I felt the first time I heard Andy Shepherd ! Almost as special as the music was hearing Alex talking to the converted rather than a crowd of well intentioned but poorly informed music fans. His illustrations clearly demonstrated that he now operates in the upper echelons of interpretation. Furthermore his dedication to his art and unswerving adherence to his own philosophy display an integrity only found among real purists. I have long considered Alex to be world class in the Jazz/ Rock idiom. I now consider him to be in a class of his own.
