Were LAND-HUNGRY, Lets Develop MULTISTORIED SLUM APARTMENTS for the Urban Poor. Ive been working for the Poverty Reduction and Slum Housing Development since 1996 for the Urban Poor, especially people living in the Inhuman Condition at the Slum areas of the Major cities where basic Urban Facilities and Services like Water, Electricity, Gas, Sanitation etc. are almost absent. At present Climate Change Impacts are taking a critical shape all over the country. As consequence, Climate Victims from different parts of the country are rushing towards the major cities of the country in search of Shelter and Occupation mainly. But in Chittagong the scenario is a bit different, here people from the surrounding Disaster prone areas take shelter on the Railway / Government Hills and develop Slum Houses in an Unplanned and Risky manner, They cut hills in order to accommodate their Slum Houses at the foot steps of the Vulnerable Hills or on the Risky Slopes of Hills, These hills are composed of Sandy Soil and during the Heavy Downpour in the Rainy season experience Land-slides causing heavy damage to Life and Property, These Slum Dwelling people, who Run the Wheels of Urbanization Process constitute around 45% of the Urban Population in the Major cities of Bangladesh Therefore, to Rehabilitate the Poor Slum Dwellers in a Planned manner along with the Basic Urban Facilities, I proposed the concept of Multistoried Slum Apartment at the Hilly locations where these Slum areas are located, Since were Land-hungry, Vertical Expansion was suggested instead of Horizontal Now CCC is developing 250 sq.ft. Flats for the Slum dwellers at Tiger Pass for accommodating 161 families with all the Basic Urban facilities (i,e, Water, Electricity, Gas, Sanitation, School, Health Care, Grocery etc.). These are Low-cost Constructions along with Subsidized Land Price, where concerned people are asked to pay the monthly House Rents only in order to own Flats within the time span of 15 years.
