Were back with a pose of the day! Posture #3 in the Hot 90 Series - Awkward Pose (Utkatasana) Purpose and Benefits: Tones and shapes legs, builds strength, stimulates circulation and promotes concentration. Performing the Pose: Phase 1 - Stand with feet 6 inches apart - Raise your arms straight out in front of you - Keep heels flat on the floor, exhale, sit as deeply as you can, as if sitting in a chair - Keep your weight on your heels, lift chest up, lean upper body back - Keep 6 inches of space between your toes, heels, knees and hands - Breathe, Count to 10 slowly, and then come up with your arms in the same position Phase 2 - Stand with feet 6 inches apart - Raise your arms straight out in front of you, parallel to the floor - Raise all the way up on your tippy toes - Stay high on your toes and bend your knees until they are parallel to the floor - Keep your back flat and stomach sucked in, like youre pressing your back against a wall - With your heels as high off the ground as possible, stay in the pose for 10 seconds - Remember to breathe - Slowly come back to standing flat, arms still stretched out toward the mirror Phase 3 - Raise your toes just a little bit, squeeze the knees and thighs tightly together - Suck in your stomach and sink down slowly until youre hovering an inch above your heels - Keep your back straight, pressed against the imaginary wall - Your arms remain parallel to the floor, stretched out in front of you - Hold for 10 seconds, then slowly come up the same way you went down - Lower your arms and bring your feet together - Keep breathing Demonstration: https://youtube/watch?v=wkYJxDUecEU
