Were finally on our way north again, leaving So Calif and heading - TopicsExpress

Were finally on our way north again, leaving So Calif and heading to Yosemite for the next 8 days. Tonight well stay in Kingsburg, a little town just outside Fresno, and well get into the Valley sometime tomorrow morning to check into Housekeeping Camp. We thought about going up the east side of the Sierra and spending the night in Mammoth but decided instead to take the shorter route on the western side so were not arriving at our nights destination too late. Our car is sooooo crammed full of gear, I dont think we could fit in a postage stamp, haha - it will be interesting to see what we forgot to bring. We always try to remember everything but Ive been so busy the past couple of weeks, it wouldnt surprise me if I left something out. Oh, well, we have the essential stuff and if we left something out, we can probably buy a replacement there. This is the part of teaching online that I love - being location-independent. I dont have any meetings on campus this week and things are slow at the zoo so I didnt have any tours to give - I have been splitting my IRC Docent duties with another person so we can both have some flexibility to do other things so hes covering for me this week. I still have to work, of course, but would rather work sitting next to the Merced River or in front of a camp fire in Yosemite Valley where the weather is in the low 70s daytime and low 50s at night than right now in Orange County where the temps were around 100 when we left. Worse yet, they were 108 as we drove through Santa Clarita - so glad I dont live there, haha! The dogs knew we were getting ready to take a trip and both of them told us they didnt like that idea because they figured out they were not going to go with us. I told both of them we would be back next week and that Ed would be there to take care of them. I went out the door and then returned one minute later - both dogs were already hanging out with Ed, busy being best friends with him, so I think they will manage to adjust and survive without us as they have done before.
