Were in downtown Seattle at the Orca/Salmon workshop, sponsored by the Puget Sound Partnership prior to the 3-day Salish Sea conference. Most of the veteran whale spotters are here, so if orcas come down Admiralty Inlet or show up somewhere please post it here because we may not be able to get out to see them. The first speaker, Daniel Schindler, made the essential motivation for the workshop: Southern Resident birth rates, death rates and population size are closely correlated with chinook numbers. Now lets see how we can bring back the chinook and the orcas. Well post notes from the workshop as the day progresses.
