Wes Anderson Diaries, Entry 4 - Rushmore: Okay, I know its been a while since I logged an entry in this. I have to say, before going into this one, Id experienced 3 other Wes Anderson movies: The Royal Tenenbaums, which was okay in my opinion, Moonrise Kingdom, which I really enjoyed (and actually got better when I saw it on cable the other day), and Fantastic Mr. Fox, which I loved so much it might end up on my Top 5 Favorite Films of the year. So, how did Rushmore, Andersons second film, and first with Jason Schwartzman and Bill Murray, fare? Actually, Ill say this: I definitely prefer his later works over his earlier ones. This one had something of an interesting premise when I read it on IMDb and NetFlix, but actually, all that stuff ends within the first half hour. As a result, I was just watching the rest of it wondering where on Earth it would go from there. I did enjoy some moments of it, though, and the acting and character development were really good. Like with Royal Tenenbaums, though, the pacing was a huge issue for me. Like that one, also, it might improve on additional viewings, but on the first one, yea, its just okay. 7/10
