West Augusta.... The former Churchs Chicken property on Washington road is under contract... Hopefully the building can be demolished and rebuilt similar to the restaurant coming to the Augusta Exchange(Twin Peaks moving into the Sticky Fingers property).. The Washington road area continues to boom and the city must step up to the plate... The growth in the area is fantastic, but the government has to focus on creating landscaping, new urbanism, mixed-use developments, sidewalks, green space, and bike paths.. The city of Augusta should build a green space/park setting between Friedmans and National Hills Baptist Church.. The landscaping along Washington road should resemble nearby Alexander road or Wheeler road in the Augusta Exchange area... The main objective involves running away from the typical, dull, and boring suburban architecture found in suburbs across the US.. Washington road growth: 1. $40 million Washington Crossing(Whole Foods, Home Goods, Jasons Deli, Half-Moon Outfitters, etc) 2. MedNow opening new building at 2851 Washington road 3. Infiniti of Augusta at 3315 Washington road 4. 9,000 sq. ft. development at 2817 & 2819 Washington road 5. PDQ restaurant at 2999 Washington rd(former Circle K) 6. Cookout replacing Crazy Turks(CT is looking somewhere downtown) 7. Captains D demolished/rebuilt at 3029 Washington road 8. Masters Inn hotel becoming two properties(one property is being renovated and the other demolished/new hotel) 9, Hampton Inn & Suites hotel(replacing existing Hampton Inn) at 3032 Washington road
