West Coast have underlined the faith they have in Dom Sheed being a highly valuable player for the club with the allocation of guernseys to recruits today. Sheed, the Eagles top selection in the recent national draft, has been handed the No.4 jumper worn so successfully by retired midfielder Daniel Kerr. The number has a strong history at the Eagles as it was also carried by inaugural captain Ross Glendinning and the clubs leading goalkicker Peter Sumich. Another recruit, Tom Barrass, has taken over the No.37 jumper previously adorned by veteran Adam Selwood. Simon Tunbridge had worn 46 last season but has been given Andrew Embleys old No.32 guernsey following the Norm Smith medallists departure from the AFL. The Eagles havent kept their jumpers in mothballs. Shortly after Mark Nicoski announced his retirement, his No.6 was given to Elliot Yeo, who moved back west from Brisbane last month. Former Hawthorn player Xavier Ellis was handed No.18. Dylan Main has No,40, Malcolm Karpeny was awarded 39 while rookie squad members Will Maginness (41) and Rowen Powell (43) were also handed guernseys today.
