West Deptford resident celebrates release of new Christian devotional book of poetry with An Afternoon of Poetry ‘n Praise BLACKWOOD, N.J.—West Deptford resident Lenore C. Uddyback-Fortson will celebrate the official release of Poetry ‘n Praise…Creative Devotions, her new devotional book of poetry, with An Afternoon of Poetry ‘n Praise on Sat., Aug. 2, 2014, 2:30 p.m. The program will take place in Blackwood at Living Word Bible Fellowship, 543 Somerdale Road, and will feature poetry, music and dance, all done to the honor and glory of God. It will also stream live @ LenoreCEnterprises. A newly-published author, Uddyback-Fortson is no stranger to the cultural arts or the use of cultural arts as a form of worship. “My mother, Geraldine Uddyback, instilled in me and my three sisters, a love of poetry, as well as the desire to use the arts as a way to honor and glorify God,” she said. “Three of us are poets, and one of my sisters has traveled internationally as a praise dancer.” Poetry ‘n Praise…Creative Devotions features 30 original pieces of poetry encased by scriptural verses from the Psalms. Books are available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. A 1986 graduate of Deptford Township High School, Uddyback-Fortson is a communicator and educator by trade. She credits her love of poetry to her mother—a lover of the cultural arts—who founded and directed a theater workshop for young people during the first nine years of Uddyback-Fortson’s life. Poetry ‘n Praise is her first book, and is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Her second book, Words That Come To Mind: The Collection, is due out in the fall. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 856-979-7771.
