Westfield High School Hosts Unified Football Clinic The highly ranked Westfield Shamrock football team and coaches hosted a clinic for Special Olympics athletes from Hamilton County. Participants of all ages and abilities were encouraged to participate. This is an activity that Coach Jake Gilbert had helped organize when he was a coach at Wabash College and he has now made it part of Champions Together at Westfield. Coach Gilbert described the day as his favorite day of the year. He went on to say that, we try to teach our players that servant leadership is part of what we do. The athletes were wearing Westfield game jerseys and helmets as Shamrock coaches and players helped the athletes through six practice stations. The athletes smiled from ear to ear as they learned from their Friday night heroes how to throw, catch, kick and run with the football by conducting drills at each of the stations. The clinic ended with all participants gathered at the center of the field around Coach Gilbert and they broke down the huddle to a resounding, FAMILY!
