Weve been hearing more reports of Shasta County Sheriffs Deputies eradicating cannabis gardens without warrants, and without giving proper notice under the existing ordinance. The following report--with its mentions of intimidation and threats, cut gate locks, warrantless searches, and pressure tactics meant to incriminate--is typical of what appears, disturbingly, to be SCSOs standard procedure in these cases. Please let us know if something similar has happened to you! ********* We unfortunately, did not have our chain up across our gate area, so they (sheriff and game warden) came right down onto the property. They had guns and a dog, and had bullet proof vests on. They wouldnt show any papers and didnt even ask the property lot number. They just said they knew we were there and planned to come and cut us and we were on a list, but no list was shown. They said that every place in our area without a home would be cut. They kept questioning with the intent of getting info that there was an expectation of yield and asking how much we need everyday, so they could establish some kind of theory that we were going to get more than we were allowed. They cut our medicine because of the 2011 ordinance that limits garden size and prevents growing without a permitted structure. We have no home on the property and according to the ordinance, only a built home will count, no mobile or manufactured homes. They were also looking for environmental violations, we did not have any. We dont use poisons or do things that could damage the environment. I paid for our water from a local company, but people with water trucks and tanks drive by our place all night long, sucking water from the creek, which is still going on. They tried to threaten my son with jail since he had a legal firearm, but in the end, charged him with a misdemeanor infraction, which he has to appear on. Our lawyer has requested the report and any photos or written complaints multiple times, from different agencies, and we have not seen one thing from them. I actually ran into the sheriffs on my way in after they had cut our medicine and I just remembered that they had gotten in through my neighbors locked gate, so they must have cut the chain. These guys are out of control!
